Vintage, circa 1991, the beginning of the thriving 1990s Chanel era led by the late Karl Lagerfeld. Besides the signature chain handle, Karl also created various of special handles in the 1990s – from metal snake chain, tortoiseshell resin, bijoux chain to this cord rope we’re presenting here.
Design – Cord/Rope motif was used on some 1990s accessory collections, but it was rarer on bags. This is seasonal vintage chevron flap with a long rolled leather cord handle and envelope-style “V” flap.
Size – About the size of medium flap but more room and lighter in weight, thanks to its single-flap design. It’s also much direct in accessing the inside too. The long cord handle is most suitable for crossbody carry.
Patent leather – We’d recommend and vote for vintage Chanel patent leather, especially in black colour, for their favourable characteristics (excellent structure, puffy quilting, high scratch resistance and alluring shine). This patent-leather flap is standing much sturdier than a lot of vintage lambskin!
Gold hardware – The famous 24karat gold plated hardware on vintage patent leather is slightly deeper and shinier in tone than other leathers. This characteristic complements the shiny leather with stunning contrast.
