Vintage 0 series, circa 1986. This Half Moon flap model was part Chanel’s vintage clutch-on-chain series, with a unique feminine flair from its curved and rounded silhouette. The simplified elegant look is beautifully dressed in Chanel’s classic beige, embellished with 24k gold plated hardware.
To introduce geometry to their design language, Chanel explored some different patterns of line for their quilting in the 1980s (square cubes, chevron, vertical lines, diagonal lines and swirl).
Besides looking like a half moon, the semicircle shape with swirling lines does give us an impression of a shell as well!
It can be carried by the short chain handle and thanks to its narrow depth (5 cm), it can also be carried in hand elegantly as a clutch.
The grosgrain interior, a fabric commonly used by Chanel in the 1980s, could easily hold up a large smartphone, small wallet, holders, lipstick and etc.
