Description
Bamboo is one of the historic heritages of the house of Gucci. It was 1947, after the war, when leather raw material was in shortage. Craftsmen were forced to look for alternatives. As an pioneering luxury fashion house, Gucci experimented with bamboo and the rest is history.
Fast forward to present, Alessandro Michele reintroduced the bamboo into his designs to complete his signature style of glamourous vintage-retro. Up next, bamboo plays an influential role in the upcoming epic Gucci Aria collection.
Named after a type of water lily, the Nymphaea bag also references the water nymphs of Greek and Roman myth who wore pearls in their hair and gowns. Exterior fully made of smooth leather for a clean graceful look. As a fusion of leather goods with costume jewellery, the bamboo handle is uniquely adorned with pearl details.
Looking from the sides, the Nymphaea bag is structured in an elegant triangular shape. Inspired by the doctor’s bag, this retro silhouette completed with double gusseted compartments. Nodding to Gucci’s equestrian heritage, a final touch of signature navy + red stripes canvas strap added to the bag.
This bag can be carried lady-like in hand or in the crook of the arm by its bamboo top handle, or on shoulder and cross-body by its detachable canvas strap.
